I got this from a Charles Stanley sermon on youtube. "How to Claim a promise"
I'm going to write this down and keep it in my Bible.
So practical I'm sharing it.
I never saw it laid out so beautifully simple before!
Questions to ask yourself before claiming a promise:
1. Is there a Scripture to back up your promise?
2. Are you one of His children?
3. Is this a personal need?
4. Does the context of this Word fit? (example: Abraham was promised a child when he was 100. So obviously every single promise isn't meant for us.)
5. Would claiming this honor Him?
6. Is it consistent with His present will for my life?
7.Would my claiming this promise encourage others?
8. Am I walking in His will?
9. Does the Holy Spirit confirm this promise to my heart?
10. Does this promise fit who I am as a child of God?
11. How can I apply this promise? (believing isn't enough. You must walk it out).
What is expected of me? Obedience - faith- patience.
What do I need to keep in mind?:
His will = His timing.
This is the biggest stumbling block. If we can't wait, we won't get!
Psalm 27:14 "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the LORD."
Also remember, if you don't get it, it is because He has something better for you.
Keep in mind how many years Joseph had to wait in prison before he ruled under Pharoh and his dreams came true.
Remember...God keeps His promise! He cannot lie.
