First of all, I want to say "welcome" to new members. It is amazing and wonderful to have former members back after the major transition/disaster at Daily Strength. It is also so encouraging to see so many new members joining our group. It is not a group we chose to be a part of and, prayerfully, there will be reconciliations and members will someday leave for that reason. But, until such time, we are a support to each other and I, have, personally, felt God's presence among us.
Those of us who were on DS, will recall that the site had the capability of listing what State/Country we were from. Some members chose to list their state in their profile and others did not. Either one was acceptable and understandable, especially for privacy reasons. I just thought that some of us might want to list their state/country on our new site.
In the past, I have had meet-ups with "sisters" from neighboring states and, even, from states 9 hours away. I took that 9hr trip several times and became good friends with someone who I still talk to. My friend and her husband have also visited us in NJ. On one trip down south, there were 4 of us from DS that met and had lunch on a pier overlooking a bay and it was a wonderful and blessed day.
I am just not sure how to do this..... Use this post? Start another thread? Keep "bumping" it up? Any thoughts? Lindajoan, any suggestions?

My apology. I just looked at another member's profile and they have listed the State they were from. When I completed my "profile", I didn't realize that the block that said "location", was where you could insert what state or area you are from. I am going back to my profile and click on Edit and then list my state.
Again, sorry, for not reading/understanding the intricacies of this site. If I didn't understand the block, I just left it blank. I am wondering if others did the same or if new members will not understand either? Hmmmmmm

Great Idea.....mine was blank . I was concerned about privacy om this site which was the reason for many changing their names that may have been a clue to their true identity. Please correct me if I am wrong, but if you have the proper privacy blocks checked only those who are friends with you can actually see your complete profile. This site has been such a blessing to be among others who understand what we are going through. What a greater blessing to know there are others living nearby.

Thankyou JeepGirl. I like how we can enter the information into our profile, I guess I'm not completely convinced it's safe? I changed my username when we transferred from DS, for more anonymity. (My ED and her dad can be very cruel, and I don't think he would hesitate to suggest she see an attorney if she recognized me.) I know that sounds sad and paranoid, but he has been so cruel and threatening in the past, and takes great joy in the fact that she's estranged from me, so I don't want to make it any easier for either of them.

byhisgrace, I totally understand and I am certain there are other members who feel like you. What is good about this site (and I believe it was with DS also), putting your state location is "optional". Just a thought, if we become close with a member, we can always do a private "friend" message. When I was on DS, after several pm's, I would give out my home e-mail because it felt safer. I also don't like using the messaging on Facebook. Who knows how safe or private anything is but I agree with taking precautions.

I'm with ByHisGrace... I need a little anonymity because I think my DIL once found me on another site and extrapolated all sorts of info to use against me. I'd be happy to let anyone know where I am if you pm me though ;-)

That would be downright horrible if my ES found these posts - I only have been sharing with you all. I don't think he would and he still hasn't figured out that I can find out his home address - by his own doing when we were still connected. Hard to imagine what the enemy (Satan) can do BUT God can prevent!
