www.jewishjournal.com/opinion/article/adults_who_do_not_speak_to_a_parent_20110719This is a link to one of my favorite older articles written by Denis Prager. I think it's right on and really resonates with me still. My opinion is that the Bible warns us that there will be 'perilous' times when the love of many will grow cold and many will be deceived. I think we are living in those days. Still, it's hard to take sometimes and I know that I never could have imagined this would include one of my own children. Society now largely encourages and supports the shutting out of one's parents, the blaming, the not taking responsibility. Even many of those of 'faith' have turned their backs on the Word of God and only tolerate that which 'tickles the ear.' We are to be sober, vigilent, putting on the whole armor .... so that we are not deceived. Pray without ceasing that we not be caught up in the chaos of things that don't matter that constantly swirl around us and take our focus off of Him. I am reminded by a personal loss recently, we are only one breath away from eternity ... what will really matter then, when we see Jesus face to face! I want Him to say, "well done faithful servant" ...

This is right on. We are living in an evil world where many have fallen away from honoring God's Word. Others never have. We see it in every aspect of life these days. It is not getting better until people turn back, repent, and call out the name of the Lord. It is true of Countries and families.
Estrangement is part of the evil world we live in. We continue to pray and not lose hope. Our hope is in the Lord alone.

Well written! We live in a time where scriptures are twisted to fit present needs and compromise for sin. Just as God never changes neither does sin. Sin is sin whether 100 years ago or today. I am sorry for your loss, Difficultime. We never know when we will take our last breath.

This article was wonderful, and I believe, very accurate. Thankyou for posting diff. We all need (me most especially,) the common sense writings of fair minded people in this very confusing world! My ED's birthday just past last week, which is always difficult, but I will continue to pray everyday for her salvation.
