Perseverance

It occurs to me that one of the things we must do is persevere and wait on the Lord, knowing that His ways are not our ways. He is working even when it seems like He is silent.
I watched a sermon recently and was reminded of the Lazarus story. Jesus loved Lazarus and yet he let him die. He didn't rush to his side to 'save' him. Can you imagine what you would have thought had you been there? The same thing that we all think when it seems like God is taking His sweet old time to do something we think He should do, in the timing we think would be best.
Jesus had another plan for Lazarus and he raised him from the dead. I wonder if a few days after Lazarus was raised from the dead if Lazarus' loved ones even cared that Jesus had allowed Lazarus to die and seemed to take his time getting to him. I think NO! They were thrilled that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead because then it was obvious that Jesus did love Lazarus and cared about Lazarus and his loved ones. He just had a different plan ... instead of healing him, He raised Him from the dead!
I think it's the same sort of idea when it comes to waiting for God to heal our estrangements. We fervently pray and pray and pray ... and yet there is little movement evident to us. Well, that's key isn't it?? It just isn't evident to us. Sometimes God's really up to something we can't even imagine and His answer may come from somewhere we couldn't have imagined.
Just because we can't see Him working, doesn't mean He isn't working.
Keep the faith, keep praying and doing what we can do, and let God take care of what we can't and maybe most importantly, in His timing, not ours. Persevere my friends, lean on Him and allow his grace and mercy to carry you through the tough days. God bless you!
