Take heart little lamb

Everyone has seen the picture of Jesus the Good Shepherd with the little lamb on his shoulders.
Sometimes he is pictured with the lamb hugged up against him.
I have thought a lot about this lately.
Did you know the little lamb has a broken leg?
When a sheep continuously leaves the flock it becomes prey for the wolf.
Or sometimes it can fall into a canyon. Or a million other perils.
It's only defence is to stay in the flock under the Shepherd's watchful care.
Finally if need be, the Shepherd will break its little leg.
When this happens it must be carried. It must be fed by the Shepherd's own hand.
By the time its leg heals it has become his little pet.
This little lamb will never the Shepherd's side again.
While being carried all the day the lamb has a higher vantage point then the other sheep.
Best of all, he nuzzles in and is soothed. He hears the Sheperd's heartbeat.
A privilege the other sheep will never know.
Take heart little one.
He will take the vilest of circumstances and use it for your good.
I hope this simple poem I wrote speaks to your heart. (ps. My family became more than they should have been to me. I had made them my idols. Jesus was the cherry on top. But now...Oh now, he is my all in all!)
COMING HOME-
Nose to the ground
And nibbling away,
Down dangerous paths
I wandered away.
Good Shepherd He left
The ninety and nine,
Not pleased was he to
Leave me behind.
With tears
And great pleading
His mercy I begged.
With his face like a flint
He hobbled my leg!
"Good Shepherd it's not
What I had in mind.
How thus could you hurt me
When I thought you so kind?"
With never an answer
To my questioning why,
With embrace
Me he carried
To flock left behind.
His heartbeat
Within me
Was soon to be stirred,
As he lovingly carried me
Back to the herd.
"You'll wander no more."
He said with a sigh,
"Such pain
While it's healing
Draws you to my side."
And now will I ever
With joyful voice,
Praise all he has spoken
In gratefull rejoice.
Because that I was broken.
No more is love
A silly token
Learned thus the day
My will was broken.
