Hi Everyone!
How's everyone faring? Has COVID affected you? It's been quite a long, long time where things aren't normal, not even accounting for the abnormality of estrangement, hasn't it?!?
If you're like me, you haven't been receiving notifications for replies to threads, posts, etc... on this space for quite some time. I've recently been in contact with the administrators of ProForum (our forum host) about this. It seems that they updated some things a while ago, but apparently only forum admins received notice of this. I haven't seen anything from our friend and admin LindaJoan in a very, very long time. Has anyone had any contact with her? Does anyone know if she is healthy and well? If so, please let us know, so we can pray.
Anyway, in order to update your settings to receive notifications, please find "profile" at the top menu under where it says "Christian Parents of Estranged Adult Children." Once you click on that, it should take you to your personal profile page. From there, find where it says "Edit Profile" on a gray button toward the right of the box. It's next to the "Send Message" button and the little settings wheel. Click on "Edit Profile." This will bring up several tabs, one of which is "Notifications." Click on this and you can see notification types such as "New Thread" or "New Post." There's a drop-down box next to each of these. Check to make sure that you select "Instant" for anything that you want to see, such as the threads or posts. "Smart" notifications don't seem to be working properly. If you're inundated with too many posts, you can always change it to "Daily" or "Weekly," but as of now, that's not a problem. Personally, many of my notifications were set to "Smart" and I wasn't seeing anything new at all.
Hopefully, we'll be able to get back to the active forum we once had!
If you see this, please check in and let us know where you are in your estrangement journey.
Prayers and wishes for each and every one of you....
