As I was praying for our ES and the whole situation this morning, it struck me what God is asking us to do with our estranged children. We have to walk the painful path to Mount Moriah with knife in hand and our dearly loved child and bind our child to lay him or her on the altar of our own making and sacrifice what we loved most.
Frankly, we still love these EC very much or it wouldn't hurt as it does.
Most of our paths are longer than Abraham's journey was, but each step is just as painful as his was.
I don't know the outcome in our case - or yours - I just know that God is near, and He has already provided the perfect Sacrifice. We are not alone. God doesn't allow us to travel this path to let Him know what we are made of - but to let us know what we are made of and what impact Christ has made and is making within us. Abraham was called a friend of God for many reasons, but I think one was because he completely surrendered to God in the unthinkable - sacrificing his son.
Amazingly, God intended to do the unthinkable with His own Son - sacrifice Him for us. Would Abraham dare to touch the heart of God and experience God's indescribable pain and ensuing victory in such a horrific sacrifice? My love - my sacrifice - of our ES is too small a price to pay to our Father Who understands.
Hope this makes sense in the eternity of it all. Hope this gives you peace as it did for me this morning.

Oh, everloving11, your post was perfect. I know I needed it today and have a feeling you will get similar responses. In fact, I need to copy and paste and keep in my purse. I know the stories but sometimes I just don't connect my situation to theirs. Duh? Why did God give us his Word in the first place? Thank you again for the beautiful reminder. You were definitely led by the Spirit to write that. My prayers going up for you and my sisters here. In His Love.....

Sometimes we shed tears just because we know we have connected with another soul who understands - shedding tears of sweetness over here in Colorado.
