Please pray for everyone in the path of this terrible Hurricane headed toward Florida. This is the second one in 13 years that will effect the part of Florida where I live. My mother is elderly, and so many people are in the direct path. It's easy for me to feel almost angry about the possibility of damage to my home again, not believing we will be going through this again. Please pray that God receives the Glory in all that occurs. I know that's where my heart needs to be, not on myself, or my property.
Thankyou in advance for everyone's prayers for all the residents in Florida as we once again experience this frightening weather event. Maybe I'll move north??

Byhisgrace,
Praying for you!!! I grew up in FL, and I remember all the preparation, anxiety, clean-up, etc... I live north (still in the South) but I hurt for my home state and all my friends and family still there when something like this happens. If you need to evacuate and don't mind driving, you're welcome to come to my home. Private message me if you need to leave... Sending hugs and prayers that you will be protected under the wings of His grace!

byhisgrace, you are human and what you are feeling at the prospect of a devastating hurricane is normal. And we always see God's glory through the worst of situations but when we are going through the storm our minds race in all directions. But you have your "sisters" here praying. I am, personally, praying for the hurricane to go to sea and for the protection of all lives in Irma's path.
And luke's generous and gracious offer of emergency housing, if needed, is certainly an indication of God's love and protection over you. Lots of Prayers being sent out for you, your mom and everyone else who might be affected by this new hurricane.

Thankyou so much for your prayers and offer for housing. This is where the love and mercy of God shows through in difficult times, when people reach out to help and care. That's what I have to focus on right now, God's goodness and mercy. I know He will help us through whatever happens. I am packing a bag just incase I panic, but my mother wouldn't travel too easily at her age, so I'm planning on staying to care for her, unless we are evacuated, then we'll head north.
I probably won't have electricity for too much longer for a while, so please let me say thankyou again for your kindness. Blessings...

I understand about your mom, but the offer stands should you need it. Please keep us posted as to how you are afterwards and if you need anything. Prayers upon prayers...

Hi Everyone...my power has just been restored a few hours ago. Air conditioning feels wonderful when it's 90 degrees! Praise God, the storm broke up just enough to weaken the eyewall a little bit, sparing us the worst part of the storm. My home is okay, only downed a coupe of young trees, but no damage. I am so grateful to The Lord. Thankyou everyone for you prayers, and well wishes. I'll be cleaning my yard for a while, but when I think of the what the The Lord spared us from, it's a pleasure to clean up branches!

Oh, wonderful Linda. I'm so glad your son came through safely...you must be relieved. Praise God that He weakened this storm enough to spare us the damage previous storms have caused. Whew!

I'm so happy for both of you! Most of my friends in Central Florida still are without power. One niece's home was flooded and another niece in the Key West has heard hers is gone but can't get back yet... Still, as you alluded byhisgrace, you can find the good things gs in all the bad! God is good. All the time. Even when we DON'T recognize it!

Yes Luke, I will keep your niece's in my prayers. It will be a difficult moment when she sees her house damaged or not there at all. It's so important for us to remember what's truly important, and a challenging thing to do during painful times.
I did notice one thing this time...my mother is now elderly and slow to get around. While we were waiting for the storm to pass, then sitting in the dark without AC or television afterward, we had a chance to really talk about the things that are important. I will always remember that quiet time we spent during this storm. It's almost as though God allows these tragedies to occur, so we can stop being distracted by all the glitter of the world, and our fast paced lives, if just for a short time, and just spend time with Him and one another.

I agree, byhisgrace! While I wouldn't wish a 9/11, Manchester, Harvey or Irma on anyone, people's hearts seem to shine and kindness is everywhere. You don't have to look for it, it's just there. For me, that's one way I know God is still ever present and ever faithful! That really is wonderful... the time you had with your mom; no doubt she was as blessed by it as you were. And thank you for the prayers for my nieces! The one whose house flooded has a 3 month old and that's difficult enough without throwing all the rest in. And the Keys... well, that's going to be hard for everyone, but then again, people will come together, as they should! Xoxo
